Colleges & Universities

Janet Perez Eckles partners with college and universities to empower students in order to increase retention by engaging, equipping, and encouraging them.

This call has become urgent as the majority attempt to navigate through their college years, but are distracted by this ever-present question: How do I navigate through the turmoil and reach peace and success in my world surrounded by pain and chaos?

Because many cannot answer this question, rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation on college campuses have never been higher. Meanwhile, faculty and staff are overwhelmed.

Your students become the exception to the above statement as they implement Janet’s applicable steps delivered in her dynamic presentation.

She delivers raw yet real-life illustrations — success despite total blindness, enduring the murder of her son, and the death of her marriage. Moving beyond the victim mentality, students witness how to rise above adversity, conquer stress, and reduce anxiety about the future. Additionally, students learn the pathways to become unstoppably triumphant through the power of resilience.

As a speaker for either orientation or commencement, Janet infuses students with a fresh mindset.

Inspired and transformed, their confidence increases to press forward with strength, perseverance, and courage. After graduation, they’re released into the world to impact and make a difference by continuing to tap into their resilience to conquer all obstacles and opposition with wisdom and tenacity.

“Attending your presentation and seeing your genuine happiness and joy despite trials has proved to me that my circumstances do not determine my success. You have given me the encouragement and steps I need to take so I can finish college.” – Nicole Josey, PBA University

Seeing is Believing: A Blind Speaker’s Guide to Every-Day Resilience

Janet captivates students with details of her own college life. As an insecure immigrant from Bolivia, she speaks on facing impending blindness, battling confusion in values, as well as encountering academic stress and fear of the unknown. Students identify with her struggles in overcoming fear and anxiety. But they also see how, despite her blindness, she became a master Spanish interpreter, award-winning author, international speaker, and CEO of JC Empowerment. Students see proof how impossibilities turn to possibilities when soaring on the wings of resilience.

Learning objectives:

  1. Discover three steps to overcome difficult changes.

  2. Explore the three ways to overcome fear and anxiety.

  3. Learn four practical steps to apply daily and transform the mindset.
