“Remember,” my daughter-in-law said, “I can’t talk from sundown today till sundown tomorrow.”
What? What kind of fad is this, I thought. But then she explained that the fast from talking was part of a Bible study. The same challenge she and my son agreed to when she fasted for 72 hours from media (cell phone, computer, tablet, etc.).
A bit strange? Not at all. Those kinds of fasts sure put our self-control to the test. Paul reminds the Galatians of the same in Chapter 5, verses 22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
