Happy Wednesday reader!

Thank you for spending these moments with me. My joy overflows because you are an important part of my inspirational family.

Good friends or not?

I always say friends are the flowers in the garden of life. But what happens when friends turn out to be thorns by our side, draining our strength and joy?

CHECK OUT this slide show about what makes a friend a friend:

What's happening lately: dealing with insecurity. My own insecurity.

While attending a speakers and authors conference here in Orlando, I relished in chatting with friends from long ago and making new ones. But in the midst of all the action, an ugly friend called insecurity sat beside me. I was surrounded by illustrious and accomplished authors who reach heights far beyond what I could dream. The insecurity threatened to bring envy and jealousy.

But then God tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to my heart. “Didn’t you say that in there you keep gratitude?” Gulp. I did. I had stored large amounts of gratitude.

Blushing a bit, I smiled. And insecurity left. Delight came in and a deep appreciation for what some of what God had done for me danced in my soul.

• The miracle that without sight, I can write and read.

• The fact that God blesses me with friends like you.

• The promise that He will be a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Each reminded me of the rich abundance I undeservingly received. How can I be anything but grateful?

How about you? Is there anything for which you care to express gratitude these days?

Be Good to Yourself

For you: 60 minutes of inspiration to feed your soul.

When we face turmoil, shocked by another shooting, restless about tomorrow, we ask if God’s Word is enough. This segment of my radio program answers this question. Take one hour for yourself, relax, and be inspired with hope and comfort as you hear what God has to say about our world today: LISTEN HERE.

My earthy father and my heavenly Father.

Thank you to all who wrote me with sweet messages of comfort for my father. He swiftly and ever so peacefully slipped into Jesus arms on June 6.

We were left reflecting in the way God orchestrated all events in our lives: In 1964, my parents, my brother age 11 and I age 12, jammed all we could in our suitcases. With tight hugs and sobs, we kissed my abuela (grandmother) good-bye. Part of our heart was left with her as she pulled her wrinkled handkerchief out from the sleeve of her black knit sweater and dried her tears.

We waved at her from the back window of the dilapidated taxi cab taking us to the La Paz airport. And once in the U.S. we said hello to a new life, a new environment, threatening at times. We greeted a foreign language which none of us spoke. We faced trauma, sadness, disappointment, humiliation and hardship. But God’s plan was still in place. He turned our journey to healing. My blindness turned to a new view of life. Tragedy that turned to triumph. And a promise that as life moves on His love nourishes our journey.

A Little Gift

Every once in a while, I receive notes that bring a new side of brightness to my days. I was interviewed by the national television show Good Life, on CTN. And in my inbox, I found this gem from a dear viewer:

I happened to be flipping around on the television and saw your interview. You are beautiful and amazing to God’s glory only and always. I was so blessed. Everything you said was pure, deep, and rich. You have allowed the Lord to crush you, and to use you for His glory. His beauty is seen in you. I needed the encouragement your life story taught. I tend not to listen too closely to women who have all the answers but haven’t been through anything. You’ve been through the deep waters and it has washed over my soul. Gail

You can view and listen to interviews such as the one Gail mentions at the press room HERE.

Invite Janet to Speak to your Organization

Did you know I pass along to you a referral fee each time I book an event you referred me to whether it be a church, a women’s conference, or business event? You may contact me HERE.

Here are two reviews from business sales gatherings where I spoke:

Janet’s presentation was heart wrenchingly fabulous! We learned not to allow our struggles to become our excuse. Her message was comprehensive, emotional (but not sappy) yet, so very hope-filled.  (Susan Perazzini, iheartMedia)

All I can say was Janet’s presentation took my breath away. I was blessed to have been there to hear her. Thank you for inviting her!    (Bill Reese, Vice President of IheartMedia Sales)

God's Promise for You

Have you been watching the news? More shootings, more violence, more uncertainty. Allow me to pray Psalm 91 for you.

Father, I speak the power of your Word upon the friend reading these words. May your anointing be evident upon their life, situation, heartache, or family needs as he/she stores this promise in their heart:

In the midst of fear, and in restless nights, you who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. While worry attacks, you will say of the LORD, “He is your refuge and your fortress, your God, in whom you trust.” Surely, he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge…(Psalm 91:1-4)

No matter what the news present, God has you covered, protected, and shielded.

Until next month...

Dear friend, I pray that no matter what happens, no matter what life brings your way, you are able to increase your trust in God.
