Today’s “in the news” section is brought to you by my friend Cindi.
Like many of you, we enjoyed one more holiday tradition…welcoming the new year with friends and family. Some great food, a fun time playing games, watching Janet’s parents run up the stairs at midnight (a Bolivian tradition signifying the climb up to prosperity for the new year), and, of course, a little dancing.
And at the stroke of midnight it became 2017.
While some people make resolutions of change for the new year, others look at it as a new beginning. A fresh start. The Bible also talks about change, a profound change for the person who turns their life over to Christ. “When someone becomes a Christian [a Christ-follower], he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 TLB)
Take heart, dear ones. There is great hope in becoming a follower of Christ. So this year, instead of resolutions that may fail, make a change…and experience a fresh start. Whether you are currently a Christ follower who needs to turn back to Him or someone seeking Him for the first time, there is a new life waiting for you and it’s found only in Him.
