When praying for my grandkids, the requests are simple: Lord, in their hearts, may they store the love that’s unconditional, the confidence that’s real, the wisdom that’s abundant and the innocence that’s pure.
In their hand, may they carry the umbrella of Your protection. The divine protection that shields them from all harm, from negative influences, from danger of all kinds, from the harshness of this life, from the cruelty of others and from the evil of this world.
May they always remember the words You teach them, draw from the strength you gave them, and for Your glory, use the gifts Yu created in them.

December 28, 2018 I held on to my friend’s arm. With wool scarfs around our neck, we shivered, trying to keep the cold wind that swept through the streets of the city that never sleeps. We weaved around people on crowded sidewalks. A strange symphony of sounds played—cars blowing their horns, music blaring from speakers by clubs and restaurants, and all around, people speaking in varied languages passed us by.
